Douglasdale Homes For Sale

Located in the south-eastern district of the city of Calgary is the community of Douglasdale. Established in 1986, this community emerged surrounding the Douglasdale Estates Golf Club. The community is bounded by the Deerfoot Trail to the east, the Bow River to the west, 130 Avenue S in the south and 114 Avenue S in the north. The community has its own association which it has combined with the neighboring community of DouglasGlen.

 

Douglasdale is represented by Ward 12 at Calgary City Council. Prospective home buyers will find that there is an abundance of wide open space and natural features within the community. This makes it the ideal location for a home for those with young children, pets, or those who simply love being in or near the Great Outdoors. Many of the properties in the community of Douglasdale offer spectacular views of the Bow River Valley and the further afield Rocky Mountains. Fish Creek Provincial Park is also close by which offers great recreational activities. The community association does not have a center as yet but it is still able to arrange a variety of programs and events for the benefit of the residents. Children can also attend groups such as Scouts, Guides and the Boys & Girls Club.

 

In terms of education, there is a separate elementary school located in Douglasdale. Other students attend educational establishments in Lake Bonavista, Acadia or Haysboro. There are plenty of shopping opportunities within the actual community and retails facilities outside of the community are easily accessible too. Douglasdale has its own strip plaza close to the golf course with Deer Valley Shopping Center located in neighboring Deer Ridge. In addition to this, DouglasGlen has a range of open spaces and play areas as well as easy access to the nearby Fish Creek Provincial Park. Parents will find that there are easy transport links for school children who can attend an educational facility in neighboring Lake Bonavista, Haysboro or canyon meadows. Retail opportunities are very local including the strip plaza situated next to the golf club house, the nearby Douglas Square in Deerfoot and the Southcenter Mall on Anderson Road.
