One of Airdrie’s newest communities is Hillcrest, built on and around the natural, hillside topography of the city’s south west corner.  It is the highest point in Airdrie, a city just six kms north of Calgary’s city limits, and is also the highest city on the province. With the Queen Elizabeth II Highway close by, commuters are 25 minutes to downtown Calgary or an easy 10 minutes to the Calgary International Airport.  Shopping for essentials is close by on Yankee Valley Blvd and the renowned Cross Iron Mills shopping mall is five minutes away in Balzac.

This new neighbourhood will soon offer families elementary schools, and in the meantime, A.E. Bower Elementary School and St. Martin de Porres Catholic High School are close by in neighbouring communities with middle schools and two more high schools a short drive or transit ride away, ready to take Airdrie students.
